MCC to Fine COVID-19 Measures Violator; Sets up Enforcement Taskforce

IPNEWS: The Monrovia City Government threatens to impose a fine of one thousand five hundred United States dollars on businesses violating the Covid-19 health protocols

The City Government also said anyone moving in the street without nose mask over their nose and mouth will be fine one thousand Liberian dollars.

Speaking at a press conference Friday, Mayor Jefferson Koijee said businesses violating will be closed until they pay the fines.

He also said individuals violating will be detained until the fines are paid into government’s revenue.

Announcing a committee that will ensure the city is clean during this health crisis in the country, flanked by the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Colonel Patrick Sudue, and Senator Milton Teahjay, Mayor Koijee said the committee will work 24-seven to ensure the safety of everyone in the bailiwick of the city.

According to Mayor Koijee, the City Government has formed a joint partnership with the Liberia National Police, health authorities, Paynesville City Corporation among others to ensure everyone adheres to the health protocols for the protection of all during this crisis.

Mayor Koijee also announced that they will be visiting various communities in the city to ensure they are in straight adherence to the health measures.
He has called on community members to place the safety buckets at their various homes for washing hands.

The MCC’s Taskforce is headed by Edwin Tisdell, Director-General for City Beautification.

The Team will work every day from 7:00pm to 4:00am and is mandated to ensure the sanity of the city and straight adherence to the health measures.
