Over Botoe Kanneh-Alfred Koiwood Election Controversy: Supreme Court Summons NEC Board of Commissioners

IPNEWS-Capitol Hil, Monrovia: The National Elections Commission (NEC) might reschedule the ruling involving Independent Candidate Botoe Kanneh and Alfred Koiwood of the Coalition of Democratic Change of Gbarpolu.

The Gbarpolu ruling was set for 12 noon yesterday, February 24, 2021, but the communication office of NEC notified the media and public that the ruling could not be possible for 12 noon as the Board of Commissioners of the National Elections Commission were summon early by nation highest Court (Supreme Court).

The highest Court summons is in relation to the recent tussle over Liberian Senate’s Decision to forward all NEC Board of COMMISSIONERS’ to prison for what the Senate termed as as violation of the Liberian Constitution article 83c.

Botoe Konneh was a major contender in the December 8, 2020 Special Senatorial and National Referendum elections in Gbarpolu one of Liberia’s high to reach counties. She was dragged to the NEC by the CDC candidate Koiwood over Allegations of fraud among other things.

At it stands, the NEC said the ruling will be 2pm today, but this might not be possible as the Supreme Court had rescheduled the conference between the Senate and the Commission for 2pm today.

The NEC ruling today would have settle the dust on the Gbarpolu County prolonged Electoral issues.

Earlier, Independent Candidate Gbotoe alarmed over threats of her life by the chiefs unleashing country devil, thereby harassing her Supporters which forced a Rerun in an area called Normadatonow.

Following the rerun tally, Gbotoe won the votes in Gbarpolu, something which pushed the CDC candidate to alarm over Allegations of fraud.(courtesy of Women’s TV)
