BY: JOSEPH TUMBEY

IPNEWS-MONROVIA: For gross incompetence and bridging of ARTICLE 83c of the 1986 Liberian Constitution, the Liberian Senate has unanimously voted to send the entire Commissioners, of the Liberian Elections Commission-NEC, to jail at the Monrovia central prison at the National.

According to Article 83c of the Constitution, ” the Elections Commission shall, within thirty days of receipt of the complaint, conduct an impartial investigation and render a decision which may involve a dismissal of the complaint or a nullification of the election of a candidate. Any political party or independent candidate affected by such decision shall not later than seven days appeal against it to the Supreme Court.

The Elections Commission shall within seven days of receipt of the notice of appeal, forward all the records in the case to the Supreme Court, which not later than seven days thereafter, shall hear and make its determination” the senate sighted.

The Senate reached the decision after the NEC prolonged delay to settled several electi disputes within the last 30 days as provided by law.

The recent Special Senatorial elections had affected six members of the Senate which has made the a incomplete body to deliberate, and decide national issues.

However the Senate concluded by depositing the Commissioners to Monrovia Central Prison by next Tuesday.

Already there are several election disputes still at both the National Elections Commission-NEC, and the Supreme Court of Liberia, seeking redress to their petition.
