LNBA Prexy Applauds Senate’s Decision Taking on Nwabudike

IPNEWS – Monrovia – The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has applauded the Senate for its action taken against the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission Chairperson, Cllr. A. Ndubuisi Nwabudike of his fake Liberian citizenship.

Speaking on Tuesday, January 26, to Judicial reporters on the grounds of the Temple of Justice, Cllr. Tiawan Gongloe, President of LNBA, said the LNBA was overwhelmed when the Senate started the issue against Nwabudike.
“Senators are direct representations of the Liberian people. Our democracy says the Government by the people, for the people and of the people so with in their case with Cllr. Nwabudike let them (Senators) be the people’s deputies,” Cllr. Gongloe said.

He mentioned that, this should not be about an individual but rather Liberia, nothing that its about adherence to the rule of law.

Cllr. Gongloe claimed that the LACC boss’ act of gross violation was against the ethics of their profession, stating that Cllr. Nwabudike engaged in misrepresentation and deceit to acquire membership of the Bar by declaring himself a Liberian when he is not.

“I am calling on the Senate to make President George M. Weah to respect their decision more than ever before. For this to work, they should not approve any budgetary appropriation of LACC and they should not consider the act for which President Weah said he will be submitting before them because when it’s acted upon it will be legitimatizing what is happening now,” Gongloe added.

He furthered that the amended Rules of Law Act was done under the chairmanship of Nwabudike, who according to him has a questionable status.

“Cllr. Nwabudike should be the subject of prosecution right now. When the Commission is stranded in terms of budgetary funds then President Weah will swiftly act by giving power to another person”, he said.

He added that the power of the people resides within the Legislature. “When President Weah does not respect the Senate which is by law not his choice, nothing that President was mandated to obey, defend promote and to hear the Constitution and Statutory laws of Liberia.”

Cllr. Gongloe noted that the Liberian President should send Nwabudike to run his private corporation but not to keep him (Nwabudike) in public place that he is not qualified for.

He advised the Legislature that their decision should be made clear to the President, that they are not actors so anything relating to LACC budgetary appropriation, confirmation or acting on any piece of Legislation that comes from the Commission should not be cleared.

It can be recalled that Cllr. Nwabudike was expelled from the Liberian National Bar Association for fraudulent action of his citizenship.

His complaint was taken to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Cllr. Francis S. Korkpor and it was forwarded by the Chief Justice to the Grievance and Ethics Committee.

The Grievance and Ethics Committee heard the complaint filed and LNBA is expecting the committee to submit its report to the Chief Justice of which the High Court will have to pass on it.
