IPNews-Monrovia: News reaching the authoritative Independent Probe from Grand Cape Mount says scores of supporters of CPP’s Grand Cape Mount candidate Simon Taylor were beaten and two vehicles belonging to the campaign team of the CPP’s candidate were set ablaze late last night following a fracas between rival supporters.
According to our Grand Cape Mount County reporter, the incident ensued when candidate Simon Taylor was lunching his campaign in Damballa Town, Porkpar District, Grand Cape Mount county, and was attacked by supporters of CDC’s candidate,Victor Watson.
Other sources confirmed to IPNews that CDC candidate Victor Watson in conspiracy with a Sierra Leonian Businessman Etris Bama, during the voter’s registration imported some Sierra Leonian who attempted cross the boarder path of Porkpar district when they were resisted by supporters of the CPP candidate Simon Taylor which resulted into tussles with an a9lleged gunfire resulting into serious injuries of two persons.
According to IPNews reporter in the area at least fifteen persons are seriously injured and were taken to a local clinic in the district for urgent treatment.
Our reporter confirmed that although the CDC’s candidate Victor Watson was not on scene, supporters of the CDC chanted party slogans challenging supporters of Simon Taylor to come out amidst men carrying dangerous weapons, including sticks and stones.
There have been no statement from the Opposition CPP over this latest incident in Grand Cape Mount County, neither the CDC’s candidate Victor Watson has issued a statement.
In Monrovia, partisans of the Opposition CPP, are climaxing the campaign of one of its widely rated candidate Abraham Darius Dillon, who in recent days has taken Montserrado County by storm.
Early this morning, scores of Dillon’s supporters were seen trooping into the Congo Town suburbs wearing white t-shirts in anticipation of their rally which is expected to begin at 12:00 PM today. Our reporter is closely following developments and IPNews will keep you updated as events unfold.
