OSIWA Donate US$ 50,000 To COVID Fight

IPNews-Monrovia: The Open Society Initiative of West Africa (OSIWA) has donated fifty thousands United States dollars (US$50,000) to tje national youth task force in the fight against COVID19 in Liberia.

Making the donation Thursday, through the National Response officer headed by The Director General of the General Services Agency boss, Madam Mary Broh, OSIWA country officer, Madam Masse Drayton said that it is her group own way of identifying with the government during these health crisis.

“We decided to make a small contribution to this fight against COVID19. We called it small because there has been other big contribution made ahead of us but this is not just a drop in the bucket but it is significan for it is going to have a wider outreach. So we are here today to present a check of fifty thousand United States dollars (US$50,000) to the Ministry of Youth and Sports foe use of the National Task Force against COVID19,” Madam Crayton noted.

Madam Crayton said that despite working on governance issues in member countries, OSIWA also work on other issues as it arises, This, the society would not have sit back and watch the government struggles with the virus alone.

Crayton noted that COVID19 as a health issue has affected the workings of the group across the country and as such the society had to join hands with government in this fight.

“We could not sir back and watch this pandemic ravaging the world and say because we do not deal with health issues, because COVID as a health issue is going to affect our work. So if you don’t have a healthy population, of course governance becomes a issue,” Madam Crayton said.

She indicated that it is upon this background the society thought it wise to join in the fight again the deadly Coronavirus in Liberia.

The OSIWA country officer stated that working with the youthful population of Liberia, she is of the strongest conviction that the message against this virus is going to go across the general population.

For her part, Madam Mary Broh, coordinator of the National Response office and head of the General Services Agency (GSA) expressed gratitude to the group and promised to used to amount for its purpose intended.
