IPNews-Nimba County: Nimba County District #5 Representative, Samuel G. Kogar has called on his kinsmen to vote the senator Prince Yormie Johnson out in the 2023 general and presidential elections.

“Senator Johnson must be voted out in 2023. I can tell you for free” Kogar Stated.

Senator Johnson’s second nine years term by the Liberian constitution expires in 2023.

He was elected for the second time in the 2014 special senatorial election when he defeated his major contender, Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh.

Speaking in a telephone interview with a local radio station in Ganta, Rep. Kogar strongly condemned comments made by Senator Johnson in the leaked audio in which he bragged of the deaths of prominent citizens of the county including Hon. Benedict Z. Bartuah.

“I want to condemn those comments in the strongest term. For this kind of statement to come from a senior Senator of Nimba county who we all elected, is sad! It is very unfortunate on his part” Rep. Kogar said

In a recent leaked audio that went viral on social media, Senator Johnson boastfully said he has a powerful God and anyone who fights against him will not succeed.

He named Hon. Benedict Z. Bartuah and other prominent citizens of the county as those who attempted fighting him but succumbed to his vigour.

“You fight me you will fall. When Benedict Bartuah tried, he died. When George Korkor tried, he died; when David Tuah tried, he died; when Thomas Grupee tried, he became cripple”

According to Rep. Kogar, it was totally disheartening and ungodly for Senator Johnson who is one of the elected senior government officials of the county to make such comments.

He wants Senator Johnson to openly apologize to citizens of the county especially family members of those he bragged of their deaths in the leaked audio.

“Senator Johnson needs to openly apologize to the people of Nimba County. Nimba county people need to come to their senses. We elected Senator Johnson to represent our interest. An honorable person must remain honorable.

The District #5 Lawmaker on behalf of his constituents consoled members of the bereaved families, saying he is not in support of the Senator’s comments.

He wants well-meaning citizens of the county join him in condemning the comments made by Senator Johnson.

In another development, the Nimba County District #5 Representative has openly declared that he wants to become the next Deputy Speaker of the 54th Legislature.

The current Deputy Speaker, Prince Kermue Moye of Bong’s District #2, is challenging incumbent Senator Henry Willie Yallah in the December 8 midterm election.

Come what may, either win or lose, there are reports that the Deputy Speaker position will still be up for grabs, come January 2021.

The Independent Probe Newspaper has gathered that, ahead of the Deputy Speaker’s seat being declared vacant, Rep. Samuel Kogar has announced his ambition and begun early “lobbying”, positioning himself as the “best choice” for the post.

Rep. Kogar said: “I have decided to contest the Deputy Speaker post, if there will be a vacancy.”

Rep. Kogar was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and reelected in 2017. He also chairs the House’s Committee on Commerce.
