Jonah Tokpah debunks rumors of reassigning health workers over political interplay

IPNews-Monrovia: The Administrator of the Bong County Health Team has termed as “baseless and lack of understanding”, allegation that he is unilaterally changing the assignments of health workers in the county based on their political affiliations.

Months ago, there were reports that Mr. Jonah Nulee Togbah was changing the assignments of health workers because of attending a political rally of an unnamed politician, who is believed to be an adversary to the Bong County Health Team Administrator.
Speaking in the county on a local radio station, Mr. Togbah admitted to the transfer of health workers but not based on political reason as understood in some corners of the county.
“I am not contesting in this senatorial election of the county. I don’t even want to be a senator for now. Why will I transfer health workers as if they are politicians? They are here to save lives” Mr. Jonah Nulee Tokpah asserted.
The youthful administrator also clarified that it is being done in conformity with guidelines at the Ministry of Health.
Mr. Togbah said that everyone has the right to his\her democratic alliance and cannot be dismissed or changed from their assignment simply because they politically disagree with his would-be alignment.
“The very people who are misleading our people today dismissed 27 health workers 12 years ago because they never agreed to support them politically”, Mr. Togbah maintained.

The Panta native said those very people who were dismissed 12 years ago were reinstated and nobody can be hunted because of their political belief.
“Under my watch as county health services supervisor of Bong County, those very people were reinstated and nobody can be dismissed or changed from their position because of politics” Mr. Togbah added.
The Gbarnga-siaqulleh native also lamented that change of assignment of health workers is being done across the country as a way of strengthening the healthcare delivery system.
“Whenever you stay long at one place, after familiarizing yourself with all the people, you might become complacent. After some years, through performance and assessment reports, if there is a need, we can change them” Mr. Jonah Nulee Tokpah noted.

He said the Bong County Health Team will continue to uphold the motto of this government, which is providing effective and efficient healthcare for the ordinary citizens.
Mr. Togbah is urging those spreading the falsehood to seek information before trying to buy political sympathy at his expense.
“Our office is open to enquiry, it’s good to seek clarity on issues before making baseless and unfounded allegations”, the youthful Administrator added.
Up to date, no health worker has officially complained about illegal transfer of them in the county.
Mr. Jonah Nulee Tokpah has been instrumental in the appointment of other young people across the county, something many have lauded him for.
According to reliable sources, Mr. Jonah Nulee Tokpah, the youngest Bong County Health Team administrator has appointed a little over fifty young people across the county.
On the issue of the upcoming senatorial midterm election, Mr. Togbah who has not made known his preference said, he will “support continuity” as a mean of fast tracking development in the county.
With Mr. Tokpah’s assertion of continuity in Bong County, it is now cleared that he is supporting the senatorial bid of Henry Willie Yallah for the second term.
Senator Henry Willie Yallah won the confidence of Bongese in 2011 as senator of the county.
Senator Yallah, a former executive of the People’s Unification Party recently crossed over to the Coalition for Democratic Change to contest in the county.
Senator Henry Willie Yallah, an incumbent, is among several aspirants including the former legal advisor to the Forestry Development Authority, Cllr. Benedict K. Sagbeh, Deputy Speaker Prince Kermue Moye, former Development Education Network Liberia executive director, Madam Dorothy K. Tooman, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Mogana S. Flomo, Jr, former Ambassador to the US, Mexico and Canada, Jeremiah Sulonteh, former Federation of Liberian youths president, Mohammed A. Nasser and the acting chairman of the Council of Patriots, Mr. Menipakeh Dumoe.
