A tragic motor accident on the Gbarnga to Ganta High Way has led to the instant death of no fewer six passengers, including the driver and damaging the maroon Taxi cab they were riding in beyond repair.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred on Tuesday at around 8:00pm on July 14, 2020. The maroon taxi cab, heading to Ganta, Nimba County from Monrovia, had on board four females and two men including the driver, only identified as Ja Rule.

Reports say they are all citizens of Nimba, with residence in the commercial city of Ganta.

Eye witnesses told the Independent Probe Newspaper that the accident occurred as a result of the taxi cab allegedly overtaking another vehicle and it collided with a trailor heading from Ganta.

This paper investigation has also established that those died in the accident were business people who have come from buying goods in Monrovia for sale and disappointingly met their untimely demise yesterday evening.

When contacted by the Independent Probe Newspaper, the Inspector of traffic division at the Liberia National Police Bong Detachment, Mamadee Kannah, confirmed the occurrence of the incident and said they have launched a thorough investigation.

Inspector Kanneh said findings of the investigation will be made public upon its conclusion.

Meanwhile, Nimba County Superintendent Hon. Nelson Korqoui has called on all businesses and partners in and around Nimba county to remain closed for today, July 15.

According to Hon. Korqoui, today is a “Dark Day” for Ganta and Nimba County.

Meanwhile, further investigations continue into the matter.
