First Lady Boakai Dedicates School, Launches Feeding Program in Grand Bassa

IPNEWS: First Lady Kartumu emphasizes President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the quality of education, a crucial step towards creating a brighter future for all Liberians.

Mrs. Boakai assures that the government is ready to collaborate with various partners and individuals to comprehensively address challenges in the education sector, including instructional, infrastructural, and psychological needs of students, parents, and teachers.

In her address during the dedication of the Joseph G. N. Gbadyu School in Neekreen Township, Grand Bassa County on Friday, October 18, 2024, the First Lady stated, “We stand in solidarity with every teacher, parent, and partner who joins us in this noble mission. Together, we will continue to lay strong foundations for our children, who are not just Liberia’s future but also its present.”

Mrs. Boakai highlighted the significance of restoring the once dilapidated Joseph G. N. Gbadyu School, not only for school-going children but for all believers in the transformative power of education.

The initiative received support from Madam Linda Karim Creevey, whom the First Lady praised as a friend to Liberia and a beacon of hope for children, expressing deep gratitude on behalf of the government and the people of Liberia.

Addressing Madam Creevey, Mrs. Boakai reflected on the words of Mother Teresa, stating, “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.” She thanked Madam Creevey for initiating a profound transformation in the community, which is expected to lead to progress and prosperity for the young students.

The Liberia First Lady commended the dedication of local leaders, school administrators, and staff, urging them to maintain the new structure as a symbol not only of present joy but of future excellence.

Simultaneously, the First Lady inaugurated the school feeding program, emphasizing the importance of upholding integrity and accountability to enhance enrollment, retention, and the overall well-being of the children.

Mrs. Boakai stressed, “By providing comprehensive care, we can improve educational environments and empower our students to strive for excellence.”

She was joined by officials, including Senate Protempore Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence and local authorities from Grand Bassa County, in cutting ribbons to the renovated facilities and serving nutritious meals to the young students.
