Liberia: Health Minister Kpoto Embarks on Nationwide Tour

—- As Ministry of Health Graduates 28 as Obstetric, Neonatal, and Pediatric Cares Clinicians

IPNEWS: In her quest to address health challenges and champion sustainable, quality, and accessible health delivery to all people in Liberia, Minister of Health Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto will Sunday, July 14, 2024 embarked on a nationwide tour beginning with the Southeastern region of Grand Gedeh County.

The Minister’s tour aims to gather firsthand information from health practitioners and stakeholders across the country on their needs and challenges to inform short-term technical and policy interventions, future policy decisions, and identify potential improvements within the various structures of the country’s health system.

Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto and her team will visit several health facilities, interact with health practitioners and patients, and inspect health facilities under construction in various parts of the country.

In a related development, the Ministry of Health over the weekend graduated at least twenty eight (28) OB Clinicians, trained in separate areas such as Obstetric, Neonatal, and Pediatric Cares.

The training program aimed to increase healthcare clinicians to safeguard the health and well-being of mothers, infants, and children across the nation.

Special speeches were made at the graduation ceremony by key stakeholders including Health Minister, Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto. Dr. Kpoto called on the graduates to unite in the spirit of collaboration and teamwork in executing responsibilities as clinician. She challenged them to be patriotic in discharge of their duty.

“Your resilience, dedication, and commitment to this program have equipped you with the skills needed to save lives and safeguard the health of our nation’s most vulnerable population, but it is by working hand in hand, united by a shared purpose, that we will truly ensure the success of our mission,” Dr. Kpoto expressed.

The Minister, however, called on the graduates to be vigilant, and treat patients with empathy, adding “sharing special bonds with patients while delivering care will create more room for a successful healthcare delivery.”

Delivering a statement on behalf of the House Committee on Health was Hon. Nyahn Flomo, Representative District #2 Nimba County.

Representative Flomo commended the students for their hard work and urged them to professionally practice what they have learned in order to make a significant impact in the healthcare system.

He stressed the important need for proper implementation of the skills and knowledge acquired during the program to improve the quality of care and reduce the high rate of maternal mortality in the country.

Meanwhile, Hon. Flomo pledged the House Committee on Health’s commitment to working with the Ministry of Health.

“Chair of the Health Committee Honorable Julie Fatorma Wiah has asked me to assure you of the Committee’s commitment to support your work by collaborating with the Ministry of Health to address some of the many challenges health workers face,” Hon Flomo pledged.

This marks the fourth graduation ceremony held by Ministry of Health.
