‘Poor-health Or Bitter Fallout’? Another Boakai’s Minister Resigns

IPNEWS: Barely six months into the government of President Joseph Boakai, and last then 24hrs after attending the ECOWAS Finance Ministers and Center Bank Governors meeting in Abuja, Nigeria, Liberia’s Finance and Development Minister, Boima Kamara has resigned.

Former Minister Kamara according to a communication to President Joseph N. Boakai cited poor health as reason for his resignation.

According to reports, Minister Kamara poor health condition which is alleged to have been continuous cannot permit him to effectively play his role as Finance Minister of the Republic.

Financial Minister Boakai Kamara’s resignation comes barely six months of President Joseph Boakai’s administration, thus sending a shocking wave to members of the ruling Unity Party Government and the entire Country.

However, President Boakai is to officially accept Minister Kamara’s resignation and subsequently nominate a new Finance Minister to fill the vacancy.

But sources within the corridors of the Executive Mansion told the authoritative Independent Probe that former Minister Kamara and President Boakai had a fallout over Liberia’s his inability to settled Liberia’s debt to the regional bloc ECOWAS which prompted the president forfeit his chances to contest the chairmanship of ECOWAS.

Early Sunday morning, July 7, speculation widen over Liberia’s President ambition to take up the chairmanship of the regional bloc which has been at its lowest in several years when three members of the bloc broke ties with the regional body to establish their own called the ‘Shel Alliance’.
