IPNEWS: Ministry of Education threatens to penalize school administrators who will collect graduation fees from 12 graders prior to the release of WASSCE results.
Speaking Wednesday in Paynesville, the Communication Director of the Ministry of Education Maxime Bleetahn said collecting graduation fees from 12 grade students outside of the WASSCE results is total violation of the Ministry policy noting that such act is punishable.
According to Bleetahn, schools’ administrators were informed to begin the collection of graduation fees following the release of WASSCE results contrary to reports of schools demanding WASSCE fees.
At the same time, the MOE Communication Director urged schools’ operators to begin collecting graduation fees not exceeding five thousand Liberian dollars for public schools and one hundred united state dollars for private schools upon pronouncement of the pending results.
He further admonished school administrators to abide by the Ministry’s mandate to avoid future embarrassment.
In June 2024, the Ministry of Education cautioned school administrators against graduation without the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
The Communication Director of the Ministry of Education, Maxim Bleeten, warned that any school caught in violation will be penalized consistently with the Ministry’s policies and guidelines.
Mr. Bleeten made the statement on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, on ELBC Education at the Mid-week program.
He said:” The Ministry has already dispatched teams in the fifteen counties to ensure that all schools complete the Ministry’s required curriculum before graduation.”
Mr. Maxim Bleeten urged school administrators and parents to cooperate with the Ministry of Education’s requirements.
