IPNEWS: Information Minister Jerolinmick Matthew Piah, has blasted former President George Manneh Weah over recent comments that incumbent President Joseph Boakai is a ‘sleepy old man.
Minister Piah describes the comments by former president Weah as disrespectful and uncalled for.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday at the Ministry of Information Culture Affairs and Tourism regular press briefing, Information Minister Jerolinmick Piah said such a statement by the CDC political leader does not represent a former Leader.
Minister Piah’s comment comes less then 24hrs after his Deputy Minister for Public Affairs launch an infrequent attacked on former President terming his attribution of President Joseph Boakai as ‘childish’.
Deputy Minister Daniel O. Sando, criticized president Weah’s statements regarding President Joseph Boakai’s alleged memory issues.
Former President George Weah was quoted as saying that President Boakai “has a problem, and the problem is to remember.” These remarks were perceived by many as a jab at Boakai’s cognitive abilities.
Daniel Sando, reacting to these comments, stated, “It is unfortunate that a former head of state would resort to such childish remarks. Personal attacks have no place in our political discourse, especially from someone who has held the highest office in the country.”
