LIBERIA – PUL Saddens by Veteran Journalist Cholo Brooks’ Death

Expresses Deepest Sympathies

The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has expressed its profound sadness over the passing of one of its esteemed members, veteran Journalist Joel Cholo Brooks.

Journalist Brooks was pronounced dead on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his Barnesville residence after being discharged from the 14th Military Hospital.

With over 30 years of enormous impact in the media and his commitment to ensuring a developed nation, veteran Journalist Brooks worked with the Liberia News Agency (LINA), and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a correspondent.

He later established The Star Newspaper, which operated for few years, and transcended into the Global News Network Online (GNN) website, where he operated until his demise.

The PUL, in its release, describes the death of Veteran Brooks as an irreplaceable loss to the media community and has urged emerging journalists to emulate the practices of fallen veterans, noting that he will be missed.

The Press Union extends its heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and the media community, seeking the intervention of God to overcome such a loss.

Meanwhile, the remains of Journalist Brooks are currently being deposited at the St. Moses Funeral Parlor, and other arrangements, including the book of condolence, will be subsequently announced.
