Liberia: AFL Dismisses Four Soldiers from Active Service

IPNEWS: The high command of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has with immediate effect disrobed four of its soldiers from active service after being tested of high narcotics while serving on active duty.

According to a release from the AFL Public Affairs, the soldiers discharged are First Lieutenant Abraham Dolo, Private First Class Kerkula Rocheforte , Private Essa Bility and Staff Sergeant Mohammed Rogers.

The release noted that Lieutenant Dolo who was assigned at the 23rd Infantry Brigade, was dismissed after test conducted proved that he was intoxicated with marijuana after a firearm assigned to him was used in shooting a 15-year-old boy at a local drinking spot in the Baptist Seminary community in Paynesville.

Private First Class kerkula Roceforte who was last assigned to the AFL Engineer Battalion in Gbarnga, Bong County, was discharged because he was found with 32 wraps of Kush in the barracks .

Private Essa Bility, a soldier assigned to the Armed Forces Training Command, was tested positive for four different illegal substances, including cocaine and marijuana.

Staff Sergeant Mohammed Rogers was discharged under Section 7.7(j) of the National Defense Act of 2008.

The government of Liberia has taken the fight against licit drugs a national priority and is currently working with a national taskforce headed by the Ministry of Health to combat the increasing waves of drug addiction among youthful population.
