IPNEWS: A delegation of three individuals from the United States is currently visiting the Booker Washington Institute in Kakata, Margibi County. The delegation includes Dr. Tyechia Philips, Dr. Carlos R. Philips, and Madam Louise W. McMilliamn Siaway from Booker T. Washington High School. Their purpose is to establish a close relationship between the two institutions and have a positive impact on the education of students at both schools.
Despite the lack of existing connection, the visit by the US delegation serves as a starting point for building a close relationship between Booker Washington Institute and Booker T. Washington High School. Both schoolsย  will use this medium to get connected and strengthen their ties for mutual benefit and growth.
During their visit, Dr. Carlos R. Philips, the principal of Booker T. Washington High School, expressed his school’s readiness to collaborate with the Booker Washington Institute and help enhance its reputation. He mentioned that their school has formed partnerships with various educational institutions around the world that share the name of the late Booker T. Washington, including in Zambia. These partnerships have enabled students to exchange knowledge and even contribute to the development of electricity in Zambia.
Dr. Nancy Freeman, the principal of the Booker Washington Institute, expressed gratitude for the proposal of a sisterly relationship with Booker T. Washington High School. She highlighted challenges such as teacher empowerment, improving dormitories, upgrading laboratory equipment, and providing professional development opportunities for teachers. Dr. Freeman also emphasized the institute’s vision to become a Model Center of Academic Excellence.
