Liberia: Duport Road Flood Victims call for Urgent Intervention

IPNEWS: Residents of Duport Road Rehab Community are calling on Central Government , the Liberia National Redcross and the Disasters Management Agency, including the office of the District Representative to come to their aid due to the two days of heavy flood that had made them homeless.

Speaking with the IPNEWS Sunday afternoon in Duport Road, the Residents said they had been living in the area for more than 20 plus years and had not experienced such flooding leaving them to seek refuge at other private schools and Churches in the community.

According to madam Siah Tamba a Residents and one of the victims of the flooding said this is the very first time for them to experience such rain which had made them homeless.

She said the rain started early Saturday into Sunday morning leaving to experience the water entry into their homes, and damaging household materials and mattress.

When asked as which type of help could the Government of Liberia provide, Madam Tamba said residents of the community were in urgent need of support to clear the drainages to ease the flooding in their community.

Madam Tamba narrated that some people had built in the water way and even fill in the swamps to build which is causing some of the problem which has rendered residents homeless.
