IPNEWS: The National Disaster Management Agency has issued a grave warning to all residents of Liberia, predicting heavy rainfall that could lead to devastating floods and windstorms. Recent downpours have already caused significant flooding in areas like Monrovia and Paynesville, forcing many to evacuate their homes.

Addressing a news conference Tuesday in Monrovia, the Executive Director of the Agency Ansu Dulleh said Liberia will experience the worst rainfall this year.

He named, wind, inland flooding, sea erosion among others as disasters that will occur this year stressing that many people will be affected.

The National Disaster Management Agency has also warned Citizens about the danger during this yearโ€™s rainy season and urged Liberians to stay on the alert for the natural disaster.

According to him, the agency is making preparations and working with other partners to help intervene when the crisis occurs.

Director Ansu Dorley emphasized the urgency of taking precautionary measures in disaster-prone areas, urging residents to brace themselves for potential disasters. The agency is actively coordinating relief efforts with organizations like the Liberia National Red Cross and the Armed Forces of Liberia to assist affected communities.

Director Dorley stressed the importance of keeping major drainages clear and preventing the construction of large structures near waterways to mitigate future disasters. He also called on government ministries and agencies to ramp up their efforts in disaster prevention, emphasizing that prevention is far more effective than recovery.
