IPNEWS: Mr. Andy Brooks presented his credentials to Her Excellency Ms. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a constructive meeting at the Ministry today.
Mr. Brooks congratulated Her Excellency on her appointment and thanked her for all the work that she had done in the course of her career to improve the lives of children and the most vulnerable populations in both Liberia and across the world.
Discussions centered on critical areas of collaboration, including the survival, development and protection of children’s rights as a key component of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Liberia. Both parties emphasized the importance of a strong and collaborative partnership to improve the lives of Liberian children.
Mr. Brooks reiterated UNICEF’s unwavering commitment to supporting Liberia’s development efforts, particularly in ensuring every child thrives. “UNICEF is dedicated to working closely with the Government of Liberia to create a just and equitable environment for all children,” he stated.
Minister Nyanti warmly welcomed Mr. Brooks and acknowledged UNICEF’s significant contributions to Liberia’s progress. She expressed confidence in the continued partnership and its positive impact on the lives of Liberian children.
UNICEF remains committed to collaborating with the Government of Liberia, Development Partners, civil society partners, and communities as part of a strong and committed UN country team to achieve the SDGs and realize the full potential of every child in Liberia.
Meanwhile, Liberian Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow has hailed Egypt’s pivotal role in establishing peace and security in Africa.
Beysolow was receiving Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Abdel Azim who delivered a congratulatory letter addressed by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to his Liberian counterpart on her new position.
The Liberian top diplomat stressed her country’s pride in its historical and fraternal relations with Egypt, noting her government’s keenness to consolidate frameworks of cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
She also expressed her sincere gratitude to Cairo for all aspects of technical support and training courses provided to raise the efficiency of human capabilities in the various Liberian government sectors.
