Speaker Koffa Appoints 3 Key Statutory Committees

…..As Rep. Cole, Dahn & Wongbe Head Major Committee 

The Speaker of the 55th Legislature on Tuesday, January 23, made appointment of heads of Statutory Committee for the next three years.

Those appointed are Representative Emmanuel Dahn of District #7 Montserrado County, Chair on Executive, Representative Samuel R. Enders, Co-chair other committee are Chair on Foreign Affairs headed by Representative Taa Wongbe of Nimba County District #9 and co-chair by Richard N.Koon of Montserrado County District 12 while the rule order and Administration committee is headed by Bong County District #3 Representative J. Marvin Cole chair and Abu Bana Kamara of District #14 Montserrado County as Co-chair.

The newly appointed chairs and co-chairs will play pivotal roles in shaping the policies and decisions within their respective committees.

Speaking after the appointment of Statutory Committee, House Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa assure members of the house on the conclusion of other committees as required by the Houses rules, especially those availing themselves to work with the leadership of the House of the House of Representatives in the coming years.

The newly appointed chairs and co-chairs will play pivotal roles in shaping the policies and decisions within their respective committees.

Their leadership will contribute to the effective functioning of the government and the implementation of key policies.

Speaker Koffa expressed confidence in the appointed members, stating, “I am confident that these distinguished individuals will bring their unique skills and perspectives to their respective committees, contributing to the overall success of our legislative agenda. Together, we will work towards building a stronger and more prosperous Liberia.”

These appointments mark a significant step forward in the House’s commitment to fostering collaboration, transparency, and excellence in legislative affairs.

Speaking to team of Legislative Reporters after his appointment Rules orders and Administration chair Representatives J. Marvin Cole said happy with the appointment made by the Speaker to handle the Administration part of the 55th Legislature.

He said under his watch as Chair he will work in the interest of all Lawmakers and Staffers of the house of representatives by given them what they worked for over the month.

According to him for so long the Capitol building especially the house of representatives had been a place where people come and sells market’s but under his watch there will be some measure put in place.

He said the issues of security and good bathroom for Staffers and even Lawmakers are something that he going to work on in the next 90 days as Head of the committee.

Representatives Cole said the issues of Staffers having Proper training is something that they will be working on and they will seek opportunity for Staffers that are working in the Legislature.

“I believe that we are going to be looking into the salaries issues of Staffers here, We are going to look at our payroll and there my committee”.

He told Journalist’s that he going to make sure that people who are not working and on payroll be removed from the payroll because that are the one who normally causes problem for other people on Capitol Hill.

This Administration will put some measure in places that before you come in to see a lawmaker you must have a reason of coming there by doing that there will be less people entering the Capitol building on a daily basis.

The movement of people coming to the Capitol building on working day, we are going to work with our committee members to see the best coming out of the 55th National Legislature, In the next 90 days we are going to repair all of the bathroom in this building and we would not like to see people urinating around the Capitol building.
