Speaking at the residence and temporary office of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, extended warm congratulations to President Boakai and the resilient people of Liberia for a successful and stable transition.
Amb. Thomas-Greenfield emphasized the enduring alliance between the United States and Liberia, stressing the President Joe Bidenβs unwavering support to Liberiaβs developmental agenda.
“We’re looking forward to working with President Boakai and his new administration,” stated the Ambassador, highlighting the commitment to advancing Liberia in various facets, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield statement was contained in a special message from President Joe Biden and the American people, reaffirming the enduring support and steadfast partnership between the United States and Liberia.
She stated that U.S. anticipates the continued collaboration with President Boakai’s new administration, and expressed eagerness for Liberia to embark on a positive trajectory by leveraging on its abundant resources to address critical areas.
Travelling alongside the USAID Director, held discussions on key issues development issues under the USAID support to Liberia and underlined the joint commitment of the people of the United States to ensure the upliftment of Liberia.

During her visit, Ambassador Greenfield highlighted the longstanding partnership between the US and Liberia, emphasizing the US’s continuous support during times of crisis, including war, the Ebola outbreak, and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Ambassador Greenfield commended Liberia for its peaceful transition of power and praised the country’s commitment to democracy. She expressed the US’s eagerness to assist Liberia in its journey towards a stronger democracy.
