Liberia: Clar Weah Bids Farewell; Promises Greater Assistance to Girls Education & Advancement

IPNEWS: Liberia’s outgoing first lady Clar Weah has bided Farewell to Liberians, promising greater assistance to the advancement of girls’ education through the Clar Weah foundation.

In a live video statement, First Lady Weah, stated that the Clar Weah Foundation is now focus on its transformative pillars of extending the support for the welfare and education of a underprivilege girl-child.

She stated that the Clar Weah City of Hope school remains a testament to her unwavering commitment to empower the next generation.

“Despite the political outcomes, the Clar Weah City of Hope dedication to education remain resolute in transforming the minds of underprivilege girls through quality education. Education as a cornerstone of progress, empowers individuals to shape their destiny.”

“Our special emphasis to uplifting a underprivilege woman stands from the belief that empowering a woman is not just imperative but a catalyst for societal progress. Through education we expire to break bearers and create opportunities for a woman facing adversities, and contributing to a more equitable life.” Madam Clar Weah Emphasized.

The outgoing Liberian first lady stated that even though she was not born within the borders of Liberia, yet her love for the country and its people is ‘boundless’; stressing that the love and compassion of Liberians remains admirable and has progress to her becoming who she is.

She said as her time as first lady has deepened the bond, and experiences has fueled her dedication to the well-being of Liberians.

“As I step away from the role of first lady, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all Liberians for the growing development, the unwavering fate and resilience of the Liberian people is my guarding light. Together with steadfast faith, and resilience we can overcome challenges to pave a way for the future that is bright and full of promise. May Liberia continue to thrive guarded by the spirit of unity towards the future where every citizen irrespective of their background has the opportunity to flourish. Thank you for your support and continue growth of prosperity and equal opportunity.”

“To this end, I want to wish our beloved incoming President and First Lady all the luck in pushing our beloved country forward.” Outgoing Frist Lady Clar Weah stated.

On Thursday, January 18,2024, First Lady Clar Marie Weah welcomed her incoming counterpart, Mrs. Katumu Y. Boakai at the Executive Mansion as part of the ongoing transition process.

The two distinct mothers of Liberia held a fruitful meeting during which they both expressed admiration for each other, stressing their respective passion for underprivileged citizens.

During the frank engagement at the Executive Mansion’s Tea House, Mrs. Weah updated Mrs. Boakai about the various projects initiated under her watch as First Lady of the Republic.

Paramount among the projects, Mrs. Weah noted the construction of the Army Wives Vocational Training Center in Marshall, the construction and rehabilitation of orphanages and schools, as well as support to less fortunate women, girls, children and the elderly among others.

Mrs. Weah also intimated that her passion for ensuring quality education for children held her to establish the Hope Academy at City of Hope through Clar Hope Foundation.

Hope Academy is the academic component of City of Hope – a multipurpose complex in Marshall, Margibi County.

The outgoing First Lady, however, assured her unflinching support and prayers to their Excellencies Mr. and Mrs. Boakai, incoming president and First Lady as they take on the leadership of Liberia.

President George Manneh Weah is expected to turn over power to President-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Monday, January 22.

For her part, Mrs. Boakai thanked Mrs. Weah for the great work she has done over the last six years, praising her courage and resilience to make positive impacts amidst challenges.

The incoming First Lady used the occasion to share her experience as the Second Lady and the great initiatives undertaken through her foundation, KYB.

The education and welfare of less fortunate children and support to various underprivileged groups were at the heart of Mrs. Boakai works through her foundation.

Following a brief prayer session that ended the meeting, Mrs. Boakai was taken on a guided of the First Lady’s office, where she’s expected to work from.

The graceful interaction between Mrs. Weah and Mrs. Boakai further enhances the seamless transition of political power and governance which climaxes on Monday, January 22, 2024.

The two Liberian first ladies, also tour the Clar Weah City of Hope facility in Marshall, lower Margibi County.
