EFFL Wants WEAH Expel Over Alleged Abuse of Public Trust, But…

— As Pre-marked Ballot Paper Rumors Spread widely

IPNEWS: The Commander-in-Chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia, (EFFL) Emmanuel Gonquoi has rallied Liberians to expel President George Weah from the presidency for reportedly abusing public office.

Gonquoi’s call comes a few hours after some members of the EFFL and others believed partisans of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change were involved in a confrontation in Lofa County on Monday.

Addressing a press conference on Monday in Monrovia, EFFL Boss accused the CDC of transporting pre-marked ballot papers by air to Lofa, Grand Bassa and other counties.

He termed the report as unlawful but claimed that the CDC’s alleged criminal activity was orchestrated by their standard bearer, incumbent President Weah to illegally win the Tuesday, November 14, 2023 presidential election in the country.

According to Gonquoi, the Liberian leader has lost his legitimacy and therefore he needs to be expelled by the citizens by voting against him to free the country from what he described as a political accident.

Gonquoi alleged that pre-marked ballot papers by President George Weah and the Coalition for Democratic Change were now be stuffed and dispatched to the Southeast and Northern Liberia particularly Lofa County.

Mr. Emmanuel Gonquoi statement came minutes after Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai told a team of international election observation team comprising the EU, ECOWAS and the West African Elders Council that ballot papers belonging to te National Elections Commission were spotted in Lofa county already pre-marked.

According to Amb. Boakai, the alleged pre-marked ballot papers were loaded on a chartered flight that went through the airport without normal security checks.

In concordance with Amb. Boakai’s statement, Gonquoi, described many of the state security as partisans’ security, -stressing that many compatriots died during the civil upheaval because of democracy and his EFFL will not sit supinely and allow Mr. George Weah to suppress democracy and subvert the popular will of the Liberian people.

He further averred that no tyrannical regime would thwart the democratic gains the country has maintained over the years.  “We will not succumb to any oppressive government, not even George Weah, he delineated.

The Commander-In-Chief of the EFFL said they will not be afraid and will resist any attempt by the footballing President. He indicated that with the information that they are receiving from their men deployed in the Southeast suggest that ballot papers were stuffed in the October 10 polls that gave CDC the amount votes they received.

The EFFL leaders narrated how members of the EFFL were greeted with hilarious reception upon their arrival in the Southeast.

CIC Gonquoi alleged that ballot boxes containing pre-marked ballot papers were arrested in Foya, Lofa County by Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia and turned them over to the Liberia National Police, though according to him they do not trust the LNP.

He maintained that the EFFL will not be intimidated by the partisan police the CDC and will go all out to protect democracy in Liberia.

There has been no independent statement from the NEC or the ruling CDC over this latest allegation as CDC Campaign Team Spokesperson, Cllr. Kanio Gba Gbala, could not respond to inquiries by this newspaper up to press time.
