IPNEWS: In a show of strength and determination, thousands of partisans and sympathizers of the Unity Party made their way onto the Antonnette Tubman Stadium (ATS) defying torrential downpour of rain on Sunday.
The streets of Monrovia were painted Green & White to support the opposition Unity Party (UP) during the launch of their campaign.
Led by standard bearer Vice President Joseph Boakai, UP supporters flooded the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, overwhelmingly, as some analyst say surpassing the turnout by ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) campaign launch on September 7.
The crowd traveled from various parts of the capital Monrovia, despite the adverse weather conditions, flocking the streets, with UP-branded attire and carrying placards with slogans denouncing corruption and for change power.
The heavy rain did little to dampen their spirits as Unity Party supporters chanted slogans and sang songs of solidarity throughout their march.
Former Vice President Joseph Boakai, in passionate speech, reiterating his party’s commitment to fighting corruption, improving governance, and uplifting the living standards of the Liberian people.
Boakai vowed to lead a government that prioritizes the welfare of its citizens and promotes transparency and accountability.
