START OF POLITICAL CAMPAIGN: Frm. ALP Vice Standard Bearer Endorses WEAH 2nd Term

—- Launches ‘THE NIMBA CONSENSUS’

IPNEWS: At the start of the political campaign across Liberia for the ensuing October 10, 2023, Elections, former vice standard Bearer of the opposition All Liberian Party Alexander Doupu, has officially endorsed the second term bid for incumbent president George Manneh Weah.

Doupu as part of his endorsement of Weah’s second term bid is set to hold a massive gathering of Nimbaians code name ‘the Nimba consensus’.

The Deputy Minister for Instructions, at the Ministry of Education, is credited to be the first opposition vice standard Bearer who officially endorse George Manneh Weah’s presidential bid minutes into the second round of the 2017 elections.

In an exclusive interview with the authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper over the weekend, Alexander Doupu, paid homage to the gallantry of men and women of Nimba county who paid the ultimate price to ensure Liberia gets and enjoys multiparty democracy, stressing Nimba county has always been the beacon of revolutionary ideals for political participation, civic engagement, the respect for the rule of law, citizenship, and patriotism.

He stated that while others were deliberate in sending our bleak messages of the horrors that beset Liberia years back, Nimba county must never make the mistakes which led to the demise of gallant sons and daughters of the county.

Doupu stated that it is time Nimbaian stand together under the ‘Nimba consensus’, as united people, rather than being used by some who do not have the county’s best interest at heart.

“We need to right the wrongs of the past. We need to stand together as united people; Nimba County is an integral part of the body politic of the Republic of Liberia.”

“It is one of the most consequential counties due to its sheer population, economy, natural resources, and vitality. From Gompa to Sekempa, from Yakepa to Tappita, from Karnplay to Yahweinmensnoh, we are a united people sharing a common heritage and culture.

“Nobody can bring division between and amongst our people. Nimba stands at a crossroads in this election. Nimba is the only consequential county that will determine the outcome of leadership.” Doupu rallied Nimbaians.

The young professional cautioned fellow Nimbaians that as Liberia enters the period of the campaign there will be some that will pretend to love Nimba and make rhetorical statements to divide the people for selfish intent but stated that Nimbaian must be wise to resist statements that have the propensity to undermine the hard-won peace and tranquility in Liberia.

He said the Nimba consensus is the abiding resolve to put the dignity and respectability of Nimba County above the whims of those who would like to use the county for their own benefit rather than the general good of Nimba County.

Alexander Doupu: “Never again should Nimba County be used by misguided and mischievous political actors for the sole purpose of amassing power and wealth. We have heard the debates, and listened to some of the speeches about Rescue, Fixer, and Sweeper. Nobody can rescue, fix, or sweep for you, but yourselves. They come with these tropes to make you feel helpless and victimized. Nimbaians are strong and resilient people who are not moved by sweet talks and no actions. We believe in ourselves and our collective industries. No politician owed us anything because we have always been responsible for ourselves. Nimbaians are a proud and noble people. We are blessed with natural resources and human capacity to improve our lives. Nimbaians do not need handouts and short change from fly-by-night politicians and their collaborators.”

“As we discuss the NIMBA CONSENSUS as the blueprint for our progress and development as a country, let us make sure we support those who support us and reject those who reject us. Power must never again be entrusted to those who show no inclination to better the lives of our people.”
