Power Struggle Heightens In Liberty Party-As Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence Suspends Use of Party’s Logo

— Warns Embattled Chairman to Stay Clear Until Resolution of Intra-party Conflict

IPNEWS: The embattled Political Leader of the Liberty Party, Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence has suspended the use of the Liberty Party logo in all transactions until an impartial judicial forum has been fully adjudicated and brought to a logical closure in the ongoing intra-party conflict which has engulfed the Liberty Party.

According to a statement issued in Monrovia, Liberty Party Karnga-Lawrence call on all partisans to stay away from any and all individuals or institutions that will or are illegally carrying the Logo on posters, billboards, T-shirts, etc. during the electioneering period for the 2023 elections.

Last weekend, embattled Chairman Musa Hassan Bility, suspended Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Abraham Darus Dillion, and four others for acts the Bility faction of the Liberty Party termed as ‘actions in contravention of the Party’s constitution.

The statement also calls on all LP partisans to continue working for the restoration of Liberia from individuals such as Musa Bility, who must not be allowed to use their logo for undue advantage through external influences in other to subvert justice in Liberia.

Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence assured that her faction will exert all efforts to restore the once cherished Liberty party.

“I call on all partisans and supporters to remain calm despite Musa Bility’s continuing drive to hinder the progress of the Liberty Party. His efforts not only run contrary to the wishes of Liberians to unburden themselves from the hardship created by the CDC-led government, but they also confirm that he is working against the very opposition he claims to be a part of. The LP Leader assures all partisans that Mr. Bility has no executive committee to neither suspend nor expel even a fly from the party.”

“It is regrettable that all efforts we made to unite the party under one leadership were blown away by him, believing that he is the chief manipulator of every system and can get away with anything. The closest opportunity we had to finding a resolution was when the Supreme Court offered its facility to both parties for the implementation of the Farmington MOU which in effect puts Bility on record for criminally altering LP’s Constitution and agreeing to submit to its correction. That correction was done in the presence of both parties on June 8, 2022, in the Library of the Supreme Court of the Republic. Again, he, as usual, rejected the signing of the corrected version, even after participating in its correction. The corrected version was subsequently signed and submitted to NEC with copy sent to the High Court, in accordance with provision of the Constitution empowering the PL to take such measures as to safeguard the interest of LP.”

“Thereafter, Mr. Bility has continued to unilaterally pursue actions that run contrary to the Constitution and has practically divided Liberty Party, although he has nothing to control in the institution, but a handful of individuals who support his alien attitude. Therefore, as now necessitated by his unbecoming behavior that has left Liberty Party polarized, I, as Political Leader, wish to inform all partisans and the public at large, that for the purpose of the 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections, the Logo of Liberty Party shall remain suspended until an impartial judicial forum has fully adjudicated and brought a closure to the intra-party conflict.” Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence statement concludes.

Last Saturday, the Musa Bility faction of the Opposition Liberty Party, expelled former embattled Political leader, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, and Montserrado county Senator Abraham Darius Dillion, and four others for conflict of interest.

In a communication dated July 14, Liberty National Chairman, Musa Hassan Bility, sent to the expelled former partisans, the Liberty Party accused its former political leader, Karnga-Lawrence for accepting the campaign chairman of another political party in contravention of the Liberty Party’s constitution.

The LP stated that Sen. Karnga-Lawrence acceptance of the position as chair for another opposition party clearly signified that she has gone against the mission and vision of the Liberty Party.

For Abraham Darius Dillion, Liberty Party stated that his acceptance of post of campaign chair for Montserrado county for the Unity Party which also signifies that he no longer aligns with the Liberty.

Others expelled are Liberty Party’s former National Chairman, Steve Zargo, and partisan Prince Toles, for accepting to contest on the Unity Party in Lofa, and Montserrado counties for Senatorial and Representative seats respectively.

As for Jacob Smith, he has been expelled for accepting the post of campaign Liaison officer for the opposition Unity Party.

Young energetic partisan Daniel Sando is expelled for consistently promoting the Unity Party manifesto rather than the Liberty Party in contravention of the party’s constitution.
