AFTER HIS 2ND TERM: “ANOTHER CDCIAN WILL SUCCEED WEAH”

-Deputy Information Minister Tonpo

Deputy Information Minister for Press and Public Affairs, Jarlawah Tonpo, has predicted that after President George Weah’s second term as Liberia’s president, the next president will come from the ranks and files of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change, CDC.

“Let individuals, who want to succeed President Weah show their manifestos that are different from what the President is doing,” Deputy Minister Tonpo said during one of the weekly press briefings of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

Tonpoe argued that whatever is contained in the manifestos of political parties are not different from all what President Weah and the CDC are currently doing across the Country, building roads, hospitals, schools and undertaking other ventures to improve the lives of the citizens.

His comments come amidst criticisms that the Weah government has increased the sufferings of the masses for its failure to attract investors, create jobs, increase civil servants’ salaries and fight corruption.

Commenting on allegations that the President and his officials of government are stealing from the citizenry by using public monies to live extravagantly, while a vast majority of citizens are dirt poor, Deputy Information Minister Tonpoe debunked the claims and said unlike past Liberian presidents, President Weah is not buying cars.

“Those making the claims of corruption against the President and the Government must show evidence,” Tonpoe said.

He challenged media houses to not only focus their commentaries and editorials on President Weah and his Government but must as well focus on the opposition.

Tonpoe also reiterated President Weah’s claims that no government has achieved what his government has achieved in five years.
