IPNEWS-Buchanan: Liberia’s Former Defense Minister Daniel Chea has endorsed the re-election bid of President George Manneh Weah.

Speaking to a thundering crowd on Saturday in Buchanan, Daniel Chea stated that Grand Bassa belongs to no special person, adding that they will ensure that President Weah gets a second term.

“Grand Bassa County, you’re gathering here was never a mistake because it’s time for us to vote wisely”.

He furthered “I come to endorse your second term bid, but I want you to take note of the Bassa-Gio Road which connects several counties in Liberia”.

Daniel Chea was recently captured on the campaign team of the Alternative National Congress has now shifted his gears, joining Weah’s reelection boat.

Earlier in June 2023, Daniel Chea, lavished praises on the George Weah-led government for what he described as its “immense contributions” to the rubber sector in Liberia.

Chea noted that the efforts by the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led by the government to empower rubber farmers across the country will enable the sector to grow speedily.

He revealed that the Weah-led administration is about to do something in the rubber industry that should have been done fifty (50) to sixty (60) years ago.

Chea informed the public that a whopping US$ 11.5 million is about to be given to the rubber sector of Liberia by the current government for what he described as a “Value Addition.” He did not, however, say when specifically, the funds would be delivered by the government.

Prior to this statement, former Minister Daniel Chea graciously accepted being a member of the Alexander B. Cummings campaign team.

At No. 8 on the official list of the Cummings campaign team, sources confided to the authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper that former Minister Daniel Chea attended a series of strategic meetings of the CPP up to the official unveiling ceremony of CPP Vice standard Bearer, Charlyne Brumskine in May 2023.

It may be recorded, in December 2017, weeks ahead of the runoff elections between incumbent president George Weah and former Vice President Joseph Boakai, the former Defense Minister during the government of President Charles Taylor, Daniel Chea pledged his “fullest support” to the presidential bid of Vice President Joseph Boakai.

Daniel Chea, a former Senior Military Commander of the NPFL and Defense Minister of  jailed former Liberian President Charles Taylor, who is convicted for war crimes in Sierra Leone.  Chea has been accused by the TRC of the massacre of 25 people in Nigabouzu, Lofa County in September 1999.

He was recommended to face an investigation for aiding and abetting war crimes with his alleged involvement with the security forces of the Oriental Timber Company (OTC).
