IPNEWS: The summer transfer window is at our doorstep, and Serie A giants Juventus are eyeing USMNT star Timothy Weah as their first signing for the upcoming campaign.

Son of former AC Milan legend and Liberian president George Weah, Timothy seems to be en route to glory, following in his famous father’s footsteps, who is the only African to have won the prestigious Ballon d’Or award. The 23-year-old, a former player for Paris Saint-Germain, has been with LOSC Lille since 2019.

Weah, 23, is believed to be one of the top candidates on the Bianconeri’s shortlist and is eager to move to Serie A. He has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid; however, Timothy prefers a move to Turin.

Juventus and Lille have already agreed on personal terms, so they are now prepared to agree to Lille’s demand for a €15 million fee, though Sky Sports notes that amount could be lowered to €12 million. In an effort to close the deal, Juventus may send midfielder Denis Zakaria to Lille, according to the Gazzetta report.

Weah’s father George Weah move to Milan earned him Ballon d’Or

George Weah, Timothy’s father, was one of his era’s top stars. His transfer to AC Milan turned out to be a turning point in his football career, which resulted in him winning the coveted Ballon d’Or.

Weah’s impact was nothing short of extraordinary after moving to Milan from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 1995. He was a key player in Milan’s Serie A championship in his first season, scoring 16 goals in 25 games.

Weah’s exceptional performances continued the following year, as he netted an impressive 22 goals in 25 matches, leading Milan to another league triumph. His prowess on the pitch and ability to dominate games earned him the coveted Ballon d’Or in 1995, making him the first and only African player to achieve this feat.
