IPNEWS: President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah is about now joining hundreds of world leaders for the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Services on the coronation have started with a grand opera, at Westminster Abbey, as Britain prepares for another coronation within the last 70 years.
This week President George Manneh Weah in a congratulatory message sent to the Government and People of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the occasion commemorating the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in his own name, extended sincere felicitation and best wishes to His Majesty King Charles III, and through him, to the Government and People of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as they celebrate this historic day on his ascension to the British throne.
The Liberian President recalled King Charles long years of work for humanity especially through the Prince’s Trust which has helped vulnerable young people get their lives on track, noting that His Majesty’s work on climate change has greatly changed and amplified the conversation on the urgency to protect the world through sound climate initiatives.
“As you assume leadership of the throne in this tumultuous era, the world is counting on your wisdom, compassion and empathy to forge global peace and security. My government and I look forward to working with Your Majesty, healing the wounds in our world and achieving global peace”, President Weah opined.
The Liberian President said the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Liberia shared a historical relationship which has been characterized by amity and democratic values, stating that the Government and People of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have been magnanimous in supporting the Pro-Poor development agenda aimed at empowering and advancing the people.
“It is our ardent prayer that the friendly ties subsisting between our two nations will grow from strength to strength for the benefit of our two Nations and Peoples” the Liberian leader stressed.
President George Manneh Weah further hoped and prayed that the cooperation subsisting between the two nations will be further enhanced in the spheres of education, agriculture and the energy for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples.
The Liberian President then wished for His Majesty King Charles’s personal well-being and for the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, peace and prosperity.
IPNEWS confirmed that indeed President George Manneh Weah is one of those foreign dignitaries who were invited by His Majesty the King, Charles III, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.There have been arguments in various quarters in Liberia as to whether the President was invited for this historic ceremony.
According to the Wikipedia, President Weah is number 78 among the 2,300 high-power guests invited for the historic event. He is among the “Foreign Dignitaries” invited to grace the ceremony. See the list of the full attendees to King Charles’ Coronation.
The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 6 May 2023, at Westminster Abbey. Charles, immediately acceded to the throne on 8 September 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.
For the Coronation, which is a symbolic event to see the crown being placed on the head of the monarch, the English Monarch extended invitation to 2,300 personalities, including members of the British Royal Family; United Kingdom; Other Commonwealth Realms; Other Commonwealth Countries; Other Royalties; Foreign Dignitaries; Religious Leaders; Royal Household; among others.

The President of the Republic, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah has left the country for London, the United Kingdom (UK).
President Weah departed Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the invitation of the Government of the United Kingdom.
The Liberian Leader will join other world leaders for the historic coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Westminister Abbey in London.
The coronation is a symbolic coming together of the monarchy, church, and state for a religious ritual during which the monarch makes vows to both God and country.
While the President is away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Mr. G. Wesseh Blamoh will act as chair of the Cabinet in close consultation with the Vice President and via telephone contact with the President.
