–Petition Madam Patricia Joetor for Montserrado District #16 Rep. Seat

IPNEWS-Monrovia: With about seven months to the October 2023 presidential and legislative elections, a group of Southeastern women under the banner of “Grassroots Congress for Democratic Change” have threatened to reject President George Weah and the CDC at the ballot box if the Liberian leader fails to come to them and do the needful having reportedly failed them during his first term of office.

Making the disclosure over the weekend at the Petition Program of Madam Patricia Joetor on Saturday, April 8, 2023 in the Borough of New Kru Town on Bushrod Islands, Madam Beatrice Nat, chairperson of the petitioning program, stated President Weah and his friend, District #16 Representative Dixon Seboe miserably failed them over the last five years plus and if fails to go them and do what is essential they will not vote for him come the October 2023 elections.

According to Madam Nat, the women of Montserrado County District #16 have been overlooked over the past time and it is time that the people of District #16 elect a woman to represent them at the Legislature.

Beatrice Nat also averred that the issue of drug is a serious problem in the District and by electing women at the Legislature will bring the needed change. “This time around we the women of this District have decided to make history in this Country”.

She indicated that women are very important component of the development drive of any Nation’s peace, stability and Security.

Madam Nat assured her colleague Patricia Joetor on behalf of the Grassroots CDC Southeastern Women that they will stand by her in the upcoming 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections to ensure she is elected to represent them at the national level.

“Her work over the years has proven to be very excellent and that is why she will be given the popular mandate.”

Accepting the Petition from the Grassroots CDC Southern Women, the petition recipient Madam Patricia Joetor alluded that she is contesting the pending elections based on the call of her people who know her capabilities and believe in her political pedigree to represent Montserrado County Electoral District #16 at the Legislature.

According to her, President Weah has done nothing for the Women of the Borough of New Kru Town, a political constituency where the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) got most of their votes since 2005 up to present.

Madam Joetor, who is also the former chairperson of CDC District #16 Chapter, said President Weah has totally forgotten where they all came from and if he doesn’t come to them before the elections they will reject him come October 10, 2023 polls.

Commenting on the illicit use of drug by the young people of the District, Madam Joetor lamented how unfortunate it is that despite the harm being caused by the use of illicit drug, the Liberian government under the leadership of President Weah is doing nothing to arrest the menace.

She noted “for so long the District has elected men to the Legislature and they have failed the people and it is time that women take the District to another level. This time around we the women of this District have decided to make history in this Country.”

The Grassroots Congress for Democratic Change women in collaboration with Borough Women and Girls Empowerment Program held the petition program ceremony for Madam Patricia Joetor.

The program which took place in the Township of New Kru Town brought together several residents of Montserrado County Electoral District #16 together.
