MINISTER TWEAH IN ‘HUSH MONEY’ DEAL?

THE TERMINOLOGY, ‘HUSH money,’ is money a person pays to a group or another person to buy his or her silence on a particular matter.

FORMER US PRESIDENT, Donald Trump, is currently in a legal battle on allegation of hush money payment to a porn star just before 2016 US elections that brought Joe Biden to power.

IN FACT, TRUMP is expected to appear in court and if possible go to prison for the alleged crime.

SIMILARLY, THE HOST of the popular online and radio talk show, Spoon Talk, Stanton Witherspoon, recently shocked many Liberians, home and abroad, when he startlingly revealed on the popular talk show that Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweah, attempted to pay panelists on the show hush money in the tone of fifty thousand United States Dollars to buy their silence on the ills and short comings of the Weah’s Government.

“MY FELLOW PANELISTS on the show wanted us take the money, but I told them we can’t take the money. I have text messages and emails to prove my claim,” Witherspoon said.

HIS STARTLING REVELATION has got many wondering as to whether Tweah, one of President Weah’s confidantes, actually made an attempt to give the Spoon Talk panelists US$50 thousand as hush money to buy their silence on the issues of rampant corruption, secret killings, nepotism, cronyism and impunity among others.

FOR MANY, THE answer could be a resounding yes as there seems to be some truth in Witherspoon’s allegation since Minister Tweah is mute over the grave allegation.

AS IT IS often said, silence means consent, but is it in all cases?

WHATEVER THE CASE is, the one-million-dollar question that needs an answer is, has Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel Tweah, at any time, attempted to give Spoon Talk Show panelists a whooping fifty thousand United States Dollars as hush money as has been alleged by Witherspoon?

ISN’T IT THE same Minister Tweah, who was accused of misdirecting a staggering twenty-five million United States Dollars intended to mop up mutilated banknotes from the local market?

LIKE FORMER PRESIDENT Trump, should Samuel Tweah be charged for allegedly attempting pay the Spoon Talk panelists US fifty thousand dollars to buy their silence on the many shortcomings of the Weah’s Government?
