SALALA RUBBER CORPORATION REMAINS COMMITTED TO THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF LIBERIA

IPNEWS: The Salala Rubber Company is the third-largest natural rubber plantation in Liberia. The company entered into a Concession Agreement with the Government of Liberia dating as far back as 1959. Under the concession agreement, the Salala Rubber Company was granted 100,000 ACRES of the land of which 22,000 acres are located in Margibi County. Since the inception of its operation up to the present, the company has not totally utilized the 22,000 acres and further, it has not initiated any activity on the remaining 79,000 Acres in Lofa County.

The SRC has and continues to contribute to the growth and development of Liberia, through the provision of jobs for thousands of Liberians, human resource development through the operation of its School System, and partnership with the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) in Kakata, Margibi County for the training of prospective graduates, under an internship program.

The company has two Elementary Schools, Annex 2 located in Camp 5 with an enrollment of 217 students, and Annex 5 located in Camp 6 with an enrollment of 91 students. The total population of the SRC School System is 1,211 which represents employees, contractors, and children of residents of towns and villages within and around the plantation. The company launched a community relation platform under which communities within and around its plantation suggest priority projects for implementation by company executives from time to time.  In spite of the many challenges occasioned by the decline in commodity prices, the company remains committed to the growth and development of the country.

The Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) has contributed immensely not only to the human resource capacity development of the country but also to the infrastructure development of Liberia, particularly WEALA COMMUNITY, and has always had a cordial relationship with the people.

The company has always conducted its operation within the confines of its August 1, 1959 Concession Agreement.  At no time has the Salala Rubber Corporation (SRC) violated any provisions of the agreement as well as any statutes of line ministries and agencies of the Government of Liberia. It always values its workforce and the good people of Liberia.
