In Bong County: Two Teachers to 300 Students @ Gbamokollie Public School

The future of students at the Gbamokollie Public School in a little village near the hometown of VP Taylor is put at risk, as the school operates with two government-employed teachers catering to over 300 pupils Gbamokollie Public School is in a little village just a stone’s throw from Sanoyea – the home of Liberia`s Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor.

Munah Togbah, a high school graduate of the Kerkulah Giddings Public School in Sanoyea told journalists that the school has over the years been run by three teachers.

Miss Togbah, who is also a volunteer classroom teacher at the school stressed that the unfavorable learning condition of the students triggered the intervention for her and other colleagues to assist.

She disclosed to the media over the weekend that one of the three teachers got blind while on the job and this led to his resignation from the school.

She stressed that about nine citizens of the village have also been volunteering, but added that the parents are the ones helping with their monthly transportation of three thousand Liberian Dollars each.

Munah blamed the Ministry of Education for the many challenges public schools in Liberia are experiencing and called on the government of Liberia to support them. (Courtesy of Bana News)
