University of Liberia Celebrates Founder’s Day Today

The Administration of the University of Liberia (UL) is expected to commence a three-day celebration in observance of its Founder’s Day, which occurred on February 15, 1951. The celebration begins from Wednesday, February 15 to the 17, 2023, in Monrovia

A statement from the University of Liberia says during the celebration, classes will remain in session from Wednesday to Thursday of this week; however, to allow students and others fully participate in the sporting event of the Founder’s Day celebration, which is taking place at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, classes will be suspended only on Friday, February 17, 2023. The day-long inter-college sporting event will begin with a parade outside the Sports Complex.

The 72nd Founder’s Day will be celebrated under the theme: “Sustaining Governance, Democracy, Peace and Stability in Liberia.”

According the statement, the University will On Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 10:00 A.M., the President of the University will officially issue a statement in the Auditorium, UL Capitol Hill campus, explaining the historical significance of the UL Founder’s Day.

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 10 A.M., an intellectual discourse will be held during an indoor program in the Auditorium, UL Capitol Hill campus. The Diplomatic Community, International Partners, Students, Pro-Democracy Institutions, CSOs, and the general public will be in attendance.

It’s said while in the evening on Thursday, UL Chorus will lead a small musical concert around the Tubman Monument in UL Park. And on Friday February 17, at 9: a parade will commence outside of the SKD Sports Complex with sporting events to climax the celebrations.
