— Warns VP Taylor, Chairman, and Others to Disengage from Coalition

IPNEWS: The Council of County Chairpersons of the former ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP), including various zones coordinators and auxiliaries, says it will boycott all activities leading to the formal endorsement of President George  Weah’s second term bid, especially his planned nomination as the standard bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

The NPP Council of Chairpersons in a release issued in Monrovia stated that their action will continue until it is given the proper recognition it deserves to play in the ensuing nomination process.

The NPP Partisans expressed regrets and frustration over the manner and form the NPP has been treated by President George Weah and the leadership of the CDC over the last five years, especially granting of jobs, funds, and other logistics to only Congress for Democratic Change partisans and officials to function as coalition leaving the NPP to be only spectators in spite of it continued support to the CDC marriage as won in 2017 presidential and legislative elections.

Meanwhile, the NPP is warning its national chairman, Senator James P. Biney, standard Bearer Jewel Howard Taylor to disengage from all further activities leading to the formal nomination of President George Weah, and calls on partisans throughout Liberia to stay away from all activities leading to the nomination slated for February 4, 2023, until the NPP can be given due recognition and respect to allow it play its rightful role within the coalition.
