“We Are Committed to Decentralize Justice & Security Services Regionally,” – Minister Dean

Justice Minister Cllr. Frank Musa Dean has reassured his Ministry continuous commitment to support regional hubs in an effort to decentralize Justice and Security services regionally.

The Minister made these statements over the weekend when his Ministry donated two 4-doors Hilux Cabin pickups valued over US$ Eighty Thousand (US$80,000.00) to the regional hub in Gbarnga, Bong County as a means of easing the challenges faced by the hub.

According to Minister Dean, the vehicles were acquired by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in fulfillment of President George Weah promised to continue to support and take ownership of projects that recognizes the need to decentralize justice and security services regionally.

The Attorney General revealed that this is a co-component of the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPPD), and we are committed to see it through.

The Minister said hub one was established and dedicated in February 2012 as a parlor of five hubs to provide justice and security services including covenant patrol, response to incident of civil disturbances, surveillance patrol and legal services.

He maintained that the pilot phrase that serves Nimba, Bong, and Lofa counties has been through some difficulties and challenges.

Minister Dean however, thanked the Legislature for acknowledging their request for support. Hence, allocating funds in the national budget to renovate the hub, procure vehicles and maintain the hub and others implements that will be needed for smooth operation.

He among other things noted that the support also covers hub two which is in Grand Gedeh and Sinoe County.

“We will be renovating the Zwedru office, providing office equipment and motorbikes for outreach. We look forward to additional support to have all five hubs operational,” he stated.

According to Minister Dean, the security officers are the Ministry’s first responder, noting that it is necessary to have the needed logistics in order to function effectively. “Our security officers are our first responders. They unselfishly worked to serve and protect,” he lamented.

The Attorney General however, emphasized that the pickups be used solely for security operations in the three hub counties; Bong, Nimba, and Lofa respectively.
