The Chairman of the much-talked about “We Taya Suffering Peaceful Rally” that was organized the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) on December 17, 2022, Martin Kollah, who is also Secretary General of the Liberty Party, a constituent member of the CPP, has broken silence over the arrest of his driver Simon Davies, who allegedly stole US$70K that was intended for the December 17, 2022 rally to outset bills incurred for the organization of the occasion.

Speaking to team of Journalists at the Headquarters of the Liberian National Police in Monrovia after the Liberia National Police through it Sierra Leone counterparts with INTERPOL support on Tuesday January 17, 2023 arrested Simon Davies in the city of Bo in Sierra Lone.

According to Martin Kollah, it is time that the LNP does it work by investigating  Simon Davis in order to put the matter to rest and to also reveal those who are involved in the stolen US$70K saga.

He said the CPP as an institution will come up with its position statement in the coming days, but what he can say is that they trust the system and he hopes that the LNP will charge him and later forward him to court following its investigation.

The Liberty Party Secretary General said as an individual who built his character over the years, will do all it takes to clear his name and this is the beginning for the Liberian people to know who really he is and the current arrest of Simon Davis will set the stage.

He noted CPP as one of the biggest opposition political institutions in Liberia is law-abiding and that is why when the incident occurred, they wrote the Ministry of Justice through the Liberia National Police to launch an investigation into the matter.

“My silence on this matter was very important because I knew within myself that am innocent to the entire money saga, while others thought that I was going to be talking on Radio but I chose to remain silent on this because as I knew that one day we would reach this far and this is what led us this far,” the Liberty Party Secretary General disclosed.

The CPP stalwart revealed one of the disappointing thing that the Spoon Network did was to “aid Simon Davis who said he was in sick bush undergoing medical attention, but the latest arrest has proven that all what he were saying were black lies.”

Flashback: INTERPOL takes a suspect into custody. It was through INTERPIL that Simon Davies was arrested in Sierra Leone.

It can be recalled Interpol in Sierra Leone arrested a Simon Davies, driver of Liberty Party Secretary-General Martin Saye Kollah after he absconded with 70,000 US Dollars.

The driver is said to have stolen the money which was intended to fund the Collaborating Political Parties’ (CPP) rally in Monrovia.

The rally was organized by political parties in Liberia in connection with the recent economic hardship and corruption in the Mano River Union nation.

The standard-bearer of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Alexander Cummings confirmed that the driver was arrested on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 and that he is being transported to Monrovia where he will face the law. Simon has since been brought to Monrovia, the LNP said this week.

Cummings also added that Davies will be prosecuted and that will signal the first step in the fight against corruption within and the nation as a whole. He noted that they hell-bent in punishing people that are corrupt.

Davies, however, has since denied the allegation but implicated his boss, Kollah and Lewis Brown, former Minister of Information in the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf government.
