The Liberian Integrated Tax Administration System (LITAS) that was officially lunched in Monrovia on October 1, 2022, initially for large taxpayers and medium taxpayers has surfaced in Grand Bassa County.

The system which seeks to digitalize different tax payment processes and procedures and to enhance transparency in tax administration in the country was introduced in Buchanan on Monday, January 9, 2023 with a piloting process. With this being done, the Buchanan Tax Business Office (TBO) will have the ability to electronically ensure, among others, taxpayers’ registration, recording of payments, and issuing of system-generated receipts.

Void of category, Taxpayers will be able to view their tax transactions and balances and perform return filling as well as view their compliance level.

The LRA conducted series of training with staff at the Buchanan Tax Business Office (TBO) and equipped the office with required logistics to ensure that tax-paying processes through LITAS are easier and more convenient for taxpayers.

Making comment at the two-day training of LRA staffs on the use of the system in Buchanan, the manager for modernization at LRA, Ambrose Bonney disclosed that “the system will not only boost transparency, but will also further reduced ‘turnaround times’ of transactions for both tax collectors and payers.”

Forming part of the training were Liberia Business Registry and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to enhance collaboration in Grand Bassa, the second county where the LRA has trained staffs to use the new digital system that will subsequently go across the 15 sub-division of Liberia.
