Police Makes Additional Ammunitions Discovery – Seizes LS$500K Counterfeit Notes

IPNEWS-Monrovia: In continuation of the search and seizure of arms and ammunitions that have reportedly been brought into the Country, the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Capitol Hill on Monday January 8, 2023, disclosed that additional ammunitions were discovered on Saturday January 7, 2023 in a container at the Freeport of Monrovia while carrying out their search.

The search and seizure came in the wake of some arms and ammunitions that were sized by the joint security and the Liberia National Police last week Thursday from a container at the Freeport of Monrovia and the Brewerville community at the home of an American-Liberian that is based in the United States of America.

Following of that, the Inspector General of the Liberia National Police Patrick Sudue in a press conference revealed that they would search the container that is currently under the watch of Customs.

Speaking in Monrovia the head of communications at the Liberia National Police, H. Moses Carter in a press conference said as they carried out search and seizure operations in the wake of discovery more arms and ammunitions that were brought into the country, another 1,000 rounds where discovered in a container at the Freeport of Monrovia. “These rounds can be used in single barrel short guns among others,” Carter said.

In another development, the LNP has revealed that three (3) individuals identified as Sekou Kanneh 37 years old Liberian, Mohammed Kamara 37 Liberian and Vivoyee Kamara, Guinean national were arrested at the Bo Waterside on January 7, 2023, at the hour of 10am for attempting  to enter Liberia with  five hundred thousand (LS$500,000) counterfeit notes.

According to him, the three individuals at the Bo Waterside will be transferred to face prosecution.

He alarmed that counterfeit notes are on the Liberia market, but was quick to remind Liberians and others who reside in Country that it is important to be mindful while doing any business transactions.

He alarmed that the LNP has started to take flashes and tints form vehicles, warning those who are not authorized to desist carrying flashes and tints on the vehicles.

In a related development, the Liberia National Police has launched full skill investigation into the death of a 15 years old girl, Princess Harmon, who was discovered on the 25th of December with body parts extracted from the deceased when she was discovered in a unfinished building in the Peace Land Community in Mount Barclay, indicating that they had meetings with the deceased family assuring them that the LNP will bring those individuals to Justice no matter how long it will take.

Moreover, spokesperson Carter disclosed said the LNP has also arrested a 16-year-old boy identified as Cyrus Logan in connection to the death of a 31-year-old female Alpha Gray whose body was discovered on January 6, 2023 in an unfinished building opposite Duport Road 704 Night Club with multiple wounds on her body. Suspect Logan is now in police custody undergoing investigation and will duly be charged and sent to court. Carter stated the body of the deceased has been turned over to her family for burial.

Concluding the updates, spokesperson Carter revealed that Gentle Bryant, a 16-year- old was also discovered dead on December 26, 2022 in a Lagoon around the Px-post Ex-change within in the Kesselly Military Barracks vicinity, LNP disclosed no foul played and the deceased body has been turned over to the family.
