-As Gov’t Grants Go-Ahead for Rally

IPNEWS: The Standard Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Mr. Alexander Cummings has made a passionate plea for Liberians to confront and overcome the fear of intimidation and turn out en mass to support the December 17, 2022 “We Tayah Suffering” Peaceful Rally slated for the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville, outside Monrovia.

The planned ‘Peaceful Rally’ dubbed “We Tayah Suffering” is being organized by the CPP to amplify the voices of the suffering masses and showcase the poor performance of President George Weah’s five years administration.

Cummings said the rally is intended to champion the cause of the downtrodden masses who are enduring the harsh and difficult economic conditions, the thousands of jobless Liberians, and those affected and injured by the poor governance of the CDC administration.

He averred the peaceful assembly, is a rallying point for all Liberians, irrespective of political and religious affiliations, ethnicity, or tribal lineages, to reawaken the governing CDC to the realities of its failed policies, the looming danger to the country’s democracy, and extreme suffering and poverty in Liberia.

In a statement released Sunday, December 11, 2022, Cummings stated since announcement of the ‘Peaceful Rally’, the CDC administration has been jittery and provoking threats of violence and intimidation to thwart the planned rally and prevent the people from speaking truth to power. He noted the popular support for the December 17, 2022 rally at the same SKD Sports Complex, where President Weah was inaugurated and made the many failed promises, has inspired and energized him, as well as reinforced his resilience and belief that Liberians are determined to usher in real change for national development and advancement.

“December 17 Rally, is for the market women, men and youths tolling under the rain and sun, the jobless, abandoned senior citizens and retired Liberians, those fearing growing insecurity, rising crime rates, fear of Liberia becoming a drugs hub, those with unfulfilled dreams, civil servants affected by arbitrary salary cuts, as well as those with medical complications, but cannot afford the high cost of seeking treatment outside Liberia,” Cummings said.

Last week, Justice Minister and acting head of Cabinet, Cllr. Frank Musah Dean, following sustained public pressure, granted permission for the holding of the CPP December 17, planned peaceful rally outside the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville, Monrovia.

Minister Dean in a letter dated December 8, accordingly directed the Director of the Liberia National Police, Patrick Sudue, to provide all necessary protection to citizens attending the December 17, Rally.

Minister Dean ordered the Police to provide and ensure protection of all citizens attending the Rally.

The CPP Standard Bearer insisted that the Weah’s administration is under constitutional obligations to grant the rights of citizens to peacefully gather and are duty-bound by law to ensure maximum protection of the Liberian people.

He called on Liberians of all persuasions including nurses, teachers, motorcyclists, petty traders, marketers, voting age youths, as well as civil servants affected by the illegal reduction of salaries, to turn out en mass and make their voices louder and clearer over the deplorable living conditions and extreme suffering in Liberia.
