IPNEWS: United States Ambassador to Liberia, Michael McCarthy on Tuesday visited one of Liberia’s integrity institutions, as part of his Integrity Institution Listening tour.
Ambassador McCarthy’s second stop of his Integrity Institution Listening tour was at the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) where he conducted an introductory meeting with the agency’s Director-General Stanley Ford on Tuesday.
Ford shared his commitment to modernizing the FIA to ensure that Liberian institutions comply with anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism laws and regulations.
The discussion was also about shortfalls in integrity institution funding and the United States’ commitment to ensuring that Liberia’s integrity institutions receive all funds appropriated to them by the Liberian legislature.
“The people of the United States give more than $110 million each year to help Liberians continue to grow their democracy, practice free and fair trade, invest in their people, and build upon the results to produce a peaceful and more prosperous tomorrow,” the US Embassy said in a statement posted on its official Facebook Page.
