In April 2009, President Sirleaf signed a bill elevating Tubman College to university status, and the newly renamed and renovated university opened on 14 September 2009. The University offers undergraduate degrees in several disciplines from its six colleges.

This paper unearthed that Tubman University Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Compliances Mr. Isaac Liverpool George collaborated with past and current regimes to make the University a ‘George Town’ – by employing his wife, daughter, and son-in-law while other more qualified Liberians are roaming streets looking for a job.

Mr. Isaac Liverpool George serves the University as the H.R while his wife Kaliatu E. George works in the office of the University President as an Administrative Officer, his daughter, son in -law Mrs. Janice George Turay, and Mr. Daniel Turay both work at the University College of Arts and Science as Teaching Assistant and IT Assistant in the department of Information and Technology and his former house help Moses Akinmola as Office Aid at the department of Counseling and Health Service.

Dr. Wreh has employed Ms. Ayee Hoffman as Administrative Assistant through Senator James Biney’s influence, Ms. Lydia Toe as Admission Officer, and his girlfriend Ms. Nathalie Wilson as Special Assistant to the graduate school and has drastically increased Emmanuel Wilson’s (brother to Nathalie Wilson) salary as Library Assistant at Tubman University Library from 500 USD to 800 USD evident by the University payroll while faculty and other support staff continue to cry for salary increment.

It is rumored that the Associate Vice President for Budget & Finance at Tubman University Mr. Emmanuel Harmon employed his family members in his division. AVP Harmon has massively increased the University’s payroll because of self-interest. in addition to many others, he knowingly placed two students from the College of Business and Administration namely Ms. Sandra Morias and Edith Harmon on the payroll. Both are currently in his division – one that is already congested .
