“Your Quest Supports Our Agenda”, Min. Wilson Tells BlueCrest

IPNEWS-Monrovia: The Minister of Youth and Sports, D. Zeogar Wilson has said the quest of the BlueCrest University College in Liberia to support youth development in the country supports governments Pro-poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD).

Making remarks as special guest of the closing ceremony of the inaugural edition of the Let’s Make Liberia Great (LMLG) football tournament, organized by the BlueCrest University, Minister Wilson said the institution’s pivotal and tremendous role to youth educational development and talents exhibitions is to make Liberia great.

“The education development and talents exhibitions of young Liberians is the best means of mitigating crimes and violence”, he said.

Speaking further he said that the authority of the University has become one of the Ministry of Youth and Sports biggest partners in terms of youth development and capacity building because they have made it a top priority.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports stands ready to always work with you and support you in whatever way you do when it comes to youth development. Weather through education, sports, capacity building and empowerment, we stand with you. We want to make sure our young people are busy and engaged in meaningful things to improve themselves” Minister Wilson noted.

He said that its time that Liberians work collectively to ensure that “we make our country great place for youths development band talents hunts.”

“I saw good talents here today. And let me congratulate the worldwide for winning of the tournament. It’s a historic win against Tubman High School. Football and sports in general are unifying force and this initiative has just done that” he told the gathering.

Also speaking, the BlueCrest University College President, Dr. Umesh Neelakantan said that he is overwhelmed for the initiative for their participation in making Liberia great.

According to him, they have been connected with several social activities beyond education and it is important.

“Let us make Liberia great for all. We have given scholarship of one hundred and fifty thousand to promote the government Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development” he noted.

The tournament officially came to an end with World Wide Mission High School defeating William V.S Tubman High School 4-0 at the Invisible Pack in the grand final on Monday, 14th of November 2022.

The tournament which brought together 16 high schools from Montserrado and Margibi, is a component of the BlueCrest corporate social responsibility, aims to give back to the community.

As champions of the tournament, World Wide Mission was awarded US$2,000, while William V.S. Tubman US$1000 as runners- up.

Other award winners are Boimah Harris of World Wide Mission School – best coach, who was awarded US$100. While Tony J Zortiah of Bethlehem High school- Golden boot. Ousman Bah of Worldwide Mission High school won himself flat screen TV as best goal keeper of the tournament.

The tournament was inaugurated on November 1, 2022 by the Indian Ambassador in Liberia, Mr. Pradeep Kumar Yadav.

Some of the sponsors of the tournament, to include Lucky Pharmacy who provided the winner prize of US$2000, Supreme Mattress gave the runners-up prize of US$1,000, Jersey from King Sign and Design, Best Goal Keeper Flat Screen TV award by Raj Enterprises, Golden Boot award Pee Kay Enterprises, Best coach US$100 award was given by Africa Trading Company and Refreshments by Sangam store and Rajpoot traders.
