-Terms Her Statement against Them “Rude”
IPNEWS: The Fula Community of Liberia, through the office of the National Fula Governor Alhaji Mohammed Bailo Sow, has called for an immediate apology from Madam Mary Broh for referring them for contributing nothing to the growth and development of Liberia.
The Fula Community accused Madam Broh of making the statement when she toured Fula facilities in the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) drive to curtail power thefts in and around the City of Monrovia.
Reading the statement on behave of the Governor Saturday, November 12, 2022, Fatumata J. Barry lamented that Mary Broh in her recent statement claimed that the Fula people are not contributing anything to the republic of Liberia, but instead taking Liberian Money to Guinea, Mauritania and Mali to invest.
“We see these statement as not only false and counter-productive to the Unification of the Citizenry, but also an affront to our entire Community, for which we demand an immediate retraction and apology from her,” the statement said.
The Community disclosed that there is an open secret that Fulanis in Liberia are contributing immensely to the infrastructure development of the country, arguably more than any other single tribe in the country.
Fatumata further read “it is unfortunate that a stateswoman, like Madam Broh will choose to question the allegiance of Fula people in Liberia.”
“A country that our forefathers migrated to even before 1847, per the statistics of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) Fulanis are the highest contributors in the Small tax division, which is performing”. She expressed.
The group strongly lamented that Broh is not more citizen than any Fulanis stating, “We were born here, and contributing our quota to the motherland to the best of our ability.”
The Fula community further alleged Madam Broh has any biological child residing in Liberia or physical Investment to show, “as she only waiting for our tax monies to be paid”, Fatumata disclosed.
“In as much as we recognize her effort in the fight against power theft, it should in no way be a conduit to launch a discriminatory attack on our tribe. Therefore, we demand that Mary Broh unconditionally retracts her irresponsible statement and register her unreserved apology or risk necessary actions,” The Fula community stated. By Taisiah K. Merfee
