‘PUP Will Not Field Presidential Candidate in 2023’ – Nat’l Chairman

IPNEWS-Monrovia: The Chairman of the People United Party (PUP), Nimba County Representative Samuel Kogar has informed a score of Journalists that the party will not field a Presidential Candidate in the forthcoming Presidential and Legislative Elections in 2023.

The statement was made in Nimba County Sanniquellie on Saturday November 5, 2022.

According to Chairman Kogar, bonifide members and partisans of the People United Party PUP, are allowed to contest for any of the positions: Representative and Senator through proper vetting, which deals with tolerance and professionalism.

“As you may be aware that the PUP Party has six (6) Representatives in the House of Representative and two Senators in the House of Senate in totality.”

According to Representative Kogar, “all individuals who are vying for various positions will go for primary, and it is that primary that will qualify the individual to contest; adding like the Song Writer says, many are called few are choosing.”

The PUP was established in 2014, with its founders including House of Representatives member James Emmanuel Nuquay (now Senator) and former Senator Henry Yallah, and was joined by former Senator Sumo Kupee after he was defeated in the Unity Party primaries. It won a single seat in the December 2014 Senate elections, with Jim Tornonlah elected in Margibi County. Writes Mohammed B. Sheriff, Intern reporter
