Over Shielding of Samuel Tweah: Uproar Emerges in House of Representative

IPNEWS: The authoritative Independent Probe has reliably learned of serious discontent by some members of the House of Representatives against its leadership over the consistent shielding of Finance Minister Samuel Tweah.

According to the report, the discontent is growing from the persistent refusal of the leadership of the House to yield to calls by some members of the House of Representatives to cite Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, to explain the method used for the National Population and Housing CENSUS in Liberia expected to be conducted shortly.

One of the aggrieved lawmakers, Nimba County District #8 Representative Larry Younquoi has accused the House of Representatives Leadership of Protecting Finance Minister Samuel Tweah, who is the Board chair of the Census Committee refusing to appear before plenary.

According to Representative Younquoi, the current head of Liberia Institute for Statistic and Geo-Information Services lacks the wisdom to steer the affairs of the institution for the country’s CENSUS.

Speaking Monday on the OK Conversation, Rep. Younquoi however encouraged the CENSUS Committee to appear before the House of Representatives and provide detailed information regarding processes towards the pending CENSUS.

Rep. Younquoi stated the establishment of the court will rescue Nimba county and its citizens from the hands of former warlords.

When quizzed about getting into trouble with his legislative colleague Senator Prince Johnson, Rep. Younquoi said he and Senator Johnson are in support of the court establishment in Liberia.

Meanwhile, the Nimba County lawmaker has maintained his call for the establishment of a War Crimes Court in Liberia.

Rep. Younquoi stated the establishment of the court will rescue Nimba county and its citizens from the hands of former warlords.
