NEC Certificates The People’s Party As New Political Party

The National Election Commission (NEC) on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 certificated The People’s Party (TPP), as a  new political party in Liberia.
Speaking at the certification program, Chairman of NEC Davidetta Brown Lansanah stated in accordance with chapter 7 of the Liberian Constitution and Regulation regarding Political Party Candidates and Independent Candidates, the National Election Commission has the Authority to grant the right to ensure requirements are inconsistent with law.

Mrs.  Davidetta Brown Lansanah added that based on those provisions she was certification  the proposed  The People’s Party in line with the Constitutional provision.
Cllr. Lansanah said that while the National Election Commission is open to  receive  applications of intent  from the the People’s Party (TPP ) to be given the right to operate as a full flash political party, it would not compromise the constitution and other statutes regarding the operations and conduct of political parties in the country.

The National Election Commission Boss noted that the issue of Elections remain everybody’s Business and will ensure it performs its statutory mandate to conduct of free,  fair, and transparent Election at all times in Liberia.
Speaking to a team of Journalists minutes after the certification program, held at the National Election Commission, the Organizing Chairman, Morris A.M. Sirleaf, stated that The People’s Party is here to make a difference in the Political field.
Chairman Sirleaf restated that one political Party could win contested elections in Liberia and as such, the TPP will work with other political parties in making sure that their effort is not wasted.

He promises as a new political party they will uphold all of the Electoral Principles of the National Election Commission and the Constitution of the State.

Chairman Sirleaf said they are here for the Liberian people and they will do all it takes to maintain the peace because Liberia is bigger than any political party or persuasion.
He also said that the issue of women’s participation is critical and TPP will ensure that the overall transformation and development of the Political Process of the Country, involves women representation at the highest level of the governance of the state.
