IPNEWS: Two prominent civil society organizations in the country, the Patriotic Consciousness Association (PACA) and the Movement with Integrity and National Development (MIND) have commended the Comptroller General of the Republic of Liberia, Mr. Janga A. Kowo on his brilliant performance to keep the economy at float through the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) in the midst of prevailing difficulties and have planned a program to certificate him shortly
In a joint statement released in Monrovia over the weekend in observance of PACA’s 15th national Anniversary, and signed by Sekou Sonii, Executive Director of MIND, and E. Frederick Baye, National Executive Chairman of PACA, the two leading pro-democracy groups recounted comptroller General Kowo’s robust economic programs, alongside Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah and key private sector partners to ensure prompt disbursement of Civil servants’ salaries and benefits, alleviating government’s local indebtedness and reducing overloaded national financial expenditure inherited from the most recent erstwhile regime of former President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
PACA and MIND further urged Comptroller General Kowo to remain committed to his professional duty in ensuring the fulfillment of national financial programs, especially living up to the prompt payment of civil servants’ salaries, benefits to retrench public workers and creation of a bright economic environment in order to attract future investment for Liberia.
The two organizations made specific reflection on Comptroller General Kowo’s recent award of distinction with a special certificate, along with four staff of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, following training in Local Currency Bond Market Development from the World Bank Group, International Monetary fund (IMF) and the WAIFEM in Monrovia.
PACA and MIND furthered that the achievement by Comptroller General Kowo is a giant step by the Weah-led Government to re-calibrate the current financial challenges facing the Country.
They then commended the World Bank for opening a new chapter in collaborating with the CDC – led government in addressing Liberia’s huge economic challenges inherited from the previous regime.
Meanwhile, the Joint Committee of Civil Society Organizations in Liberia, in partnership with its West Africa Branch has selected Hon. Kowo as “Outstanding Comptroller General of West Africa of the Decade-2022”. The release disclosed that the Certificate of Special Recognition and Appreciation from the Civil Society conglomerate will be officially presented to Mr. Kowo shortly at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning Ministry.
